Top 6 Prerequisites for Coping with Loads of Homework

Homework is the most dreaded thing that was ever invented which scares student or simply makes them ignore its existence. However, it has become rather too hard to ignore this aspect as homework comprises of at least 40% of the student’s grades in the entire curriculum and are responsible for the marks they receive at the end of the year.

Thus, despite debating over its possible benefits, this homework is assigned by each teacher and sometimes in bulk, in order to enhance the learning capabilities of the students. However, more often than not, it proves to be a big problem as students delay working upon it till the very last minute.

Homework and children: a match made in hell

There is no doubt that homework is hated by all and sundry. For students, it takes out the fun out of life and poses various problems as they have to devote time and study in order to complete it. They run around screaming when asked to do it, stop talking to their parents and even blatantly ignore its existence.

As a result, students end up procrastinating and avoiding the homework which builds into a huge pile upon a desk, until the day it cannot be ignored.

What are the top 6 prerequisites for finishing loads of homework?

So, are you one of those students out there who have loads of homework to complete within a short period of time? Does your school assign too much homework? Well, there certainly is a way to cure that! If the pile of homework on your table worries you, then fret not! For the solution is at hand.

There are certain prerequisites which you can follow in order to ensure that you finish your homework and get rid of the load sitting on your desk. Wondering how? Well, listed below are six such methods which will help you prepare to complete your homework.

  1. Organize yourself

Getting organized is one of the essential prerequisites that you need to follow to ensure that pile gets off your desk. How do you ask? Well, first you need to list down all the homework you have and when the deadline has been assigned.

Once you have made that list, make sure that your table is uncluttered and cleared enough for you to study on without any issue.

Next, gather all the material that you require to finish the tasks and keep it at hand. This comprises of all the resource material that you require. You might include your laptop if you need to research something online. Also, keep the requisite stationary at hand and ensure you have it all before you sit down to study and save time while studying.

  1. Stick to the schedule

Once you have got yourself organized, you need to develop a schedule and a time management plan and stick to it. Select an appropriate time at which you can work at your optimum best and the hour at which you can go through the pile quickly.

While some might find working at night to be convenient, others might find early evening to be that suitable hour.

Now develop a time management schedule which states how much time you are going to devote to each task and find out how much time it will take for you to finish that entire pile of homework.  Like for example, maths might take you 30 minutes to get through, whereas an essay in English might take an hour and a half.

Do not deviate from the schedule once you have made it. Stick to it! If any task is taking longer than the time that you have anticipated, then leave it and move on to the next.

  1. Pick the best place

Pick a suitable place for studying that is best for your studying needs and supports it. You need to select a place which is

  • Well lit and comfortable.
  • Free from all sorts of distractions.
  • Easy to access and comprises of all your resources.
  • Free from any form of noise.

So, choose an appropriate place where you can concentrate and work alone, without any disturbance. However, if you feel that your home is not conducive for such a feat, then you can select an alternative place as well. This place can be the library, the café around the corner, your friend’s place, or any such other place where you can work for long hours without being disturbed.

  1. Do not procrastinate

It is essential that you keep procrastination at bay. When you have loads of homework to work through, procrastination turns out to be the biggest enemy. In order to evade such thoughts, get a bit pumped up before the task by indulging in such activities and stay away from any electronic gadgets that might wile away time.

Perform a few jumping jacks or simply walk around your place for some time in order to deal with the big pile. Procrastination leaves behind very little time to study effectively. Moreover, it stresses you out, especially when you see the large pile on your desk and the time you have left to complete it.

  1. Get rid of distractions

Distraction is a major worry factor for students who intend to work on their homework load. There is no doubt that it deviates their attention to unnecessary things and leaves behind very little window to work on the load.

As a prerequisite, it is essential to ensure that you house your free from distractions, and ensure that in no way can they make a comeback, at least in your study zone. Before you sit down to work upon the load, ensure that

  • Your phone has switched off and well away from where you study. You can even submit it to your parents or siblings before you sit down to ensure that you are not distracted by it.
  • You switch off all forms of electronic devices in and around your study place. Switch off the TV, PlayStation, PC, music systems and any such other gadgets and resist its temptations.
  • You log off from all of your social media accounts if you require working on your laptop or computer for the assignments.
  • Your house is free from all sorts of noise before you sit down. However, if it not so, then request them to keep it down.

  1. Prepare a plan of attack

It is essential that you devise a plan of attack before you sit down to work on your pile of homework. This ensures that you waste very little time in the process and work efficiently to finish off the entire pile.

Take out the list you have created and planned which one you will handle first. If you are comfortable with handling the hardest assignments first, then start working on them first and keep the easier ones for later.

However, if you are not so confident and require something to boost your self-esteem, then start working on the subjects which will be easier for you to handle or your’ favourite. The work will get done and very little time will be wasted.

Seek help

Sometimes there will be such situation when you will be unable to accomplish such a task on your own. For such occasions, it is essential that you accept your defeat and look for help. Ask your parents to help you complete some of your assignments.

You can ask your siblings as well. However, if you are afraid that they will overreact, then you can turn to some professional help. There are countless educational websites available online which help students out during such dire situations. All you need to do is ask and they will gladly help you out.

So, go ahead and start working on your load of homework right now and do not ever miss out on any marks associated with homework, ever again!
